Which is a rare thing in Nashville anymore. None of it seems to stick yet though.
This morning I had breakfast with a friend to talk about theology and life. I'm not sure how much of that stuck either.
Apparently every body and their mother was out this morning too, traffic was insane. Everyone's probably just afraid the snow will stick and they won't be able to get out of their house for a day. :)
Sometimes life is like a little snow in the South. It takes a certain temperature and environment and a whole lot of consistency for things to "stick." What I've learned is, and quoting John Maxwell's infamous phrase... "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." And caring takes time.
But our end goal shouldn't be to get people to care about our knowledge, but to actually care about people, about our neighbors and those around us.
Maybe like snow, we're meant to pour our lives into the places and people around us, and maybe that takes time and commitment... perhaps above all else, love.
"Everyone needs community. I believe we're designed for community, for neighborhoods. But it seems since we've lost the front porches of our time and moved in front of the flat-screens. In this move something deeply essential has been lost...and it won't be gained back without intentionality."
ReplyDeletePerfectly stated. Great post man / great thoughts.
